Aviva Romm Iron Tonic
Take 2 TBSP each day, with 250mg vitamin C
- ½ ounce dandelion root
- ½ ounce yellow dock root
- ½ cup blackstrap molasses
Put the roots in a quart jar and cover with boiling water. Let sit 4-8 hours or so. Strain into a pot and simmer off until you’re left with 1 cup of liquid infusion. Add to this the blackstrap molasses while still heating, then remove from heat. Store in the refrigerator. This preparation will keep refrigerated for at least several weeks.
Iron-building Bliss Balls
Makes 12-14 balls. Freeze and eat one per day.
- Mix dry ingredients in a mixing bowl:
- 1/2 C cashews
- 1 C mixed nuts – pistachios/pecans/walnuts/almonds
- 2/3 C unsweetened coconut
- 1Tbsp hemp hearts
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1 Tbsp cacao powder
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp pumpkin seeds
- ½ tsp celtic sea salt
- ½ tsp: ginger, cinnamon, cardamom
- ¼ tsp powdered spirulina
2. Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl:
- 15 dates
- 15 unsweetened apricots
- 2Tbsp almond butter
- 1Tbsp blackstrap molasses
- 1Tbsp vanilla
- 1 x lemon, zested
3. Mix dry and wet together, by hand.
4. Form balls ~2Tbsp in size.
Lucky Iron Fish iron-rich water
- Boil Lucky Iron Fish in water
- Drink as water, use to make herbal tea, or add to iron-rich smoothies
Iron-rich Smoothie
- 2 cups refrigerated Iron Water ⠀⠀
- 2 large ripe bananas, sliced ⠀
- 5 cups frozen blackberries⠀
- 2 big handfuls of baby spinach
- 1 small handful of kale, frozen or fresh
- 5 cups low-fat vanilla yogurt (dairy or coconut)
- 2 tablespoons of nut butter of your choice ⠀
- extra bonus:
- 1 tablespoon powdered beet
- 1 orange OR 1 cup pineapple
