Melina Auerbach, BA, MPH
My passion is to help parents have a smooth transition to parenthood. Ever since the birth of my son in 2003, I have been involved with supporting new mothers. I first trained as a breastfeeding counselor in the Netherlands, where both my children were born, and have been a post partum doula since 2008. Before becoming a doula I worked for 15 years in community health– in Canada and abroad. Working with new families brings together my interests of birth, breastfeeding, culture and community. I feel it is a privilege to support families in their parenting journeys.
I feel privileged to provide parents with support through the childbearing years. It is my goal to nurture your confidence throughout pregnancy, birth and parenting. I really adore what I do; it’s a tremendous honour to share in this deeply intimate journey.

Birthing From Within – Dancing Star Birth
Arwen Brenneman and Judy McLaren
Co-owners Dancing Star Birth
As long time mentors with Dancing Star Birth, we are blessed to take new roles as owners in April of 2013. We are honored to work with Pomegranate Midwifery, and the engaged community of families they nurture in dynamic Hastings-Sunrise. Bringing Birthing From Within classes to Lower Mainland families is a passion for us. We love those special moments in class when birthing families find their strength, wisdom, and determination. No matter how your birth journey unfolds, we aim to give you the resources, support, and information you need to help you rise to the challenge – and to melt into the joy.
Judy McLaren is a seasoned birth doula, breastfeeding counsellor and Birthing from Within Mentor. She was drawn into birth work through the quality care she received in her first pregnancy and birth, and is now the mother of three wonderful children. She loves that Birthing From Within helps families go beyond the surface to their intuitive knowing, and offers a chance to practice the mindset needed to birth, no matter what happens.
Arwen Brenneman is a mother of two children, a Certified doula, and Birthing from Within mentor. She came from a science and research background, and loves when the tools of that approach are used to empower and help people – but she was drawn to the compassionate and inclusive approach taken by Dancing Star Birth that honours the powerful, individual, and transformational personal experience of families going through their pregnancy, labour, and first post-partum year.
Marta is a mother, Birth Doula and Birthing From Within Mentor. She feels it joy and a privilege to witness how birthing-in-awareness holds such potential as a profoundly transformative and positive life experience. She feels that Birthing from Within challenges us to look at what is real, preparing for childbirth and the rite of passage into motherhood with intelligence and compassion. Bethan is a mother of three busy boys, a Mothers Unfolding mentor and a Birthing from Within doula and mentor.
