At Pomegranate, we are sowing seeds for a strong and vibrant community of women, children and families.
We started as a midwifery clinic, offering maternity and newborn care. From these early days, we have grown into a connecting point for our community of families
We now have classes, workshops, massage, counselling, acupuncture and mom & baby drop-ins. We have a free store, a lending library, an annual picnic and other annual events and free Info Nights monthly. We support local health care initiatives, local business, grassroots ‘mompreneurs’, the LGBT community, single mothers and families in the hood. A number of our midwives are involved in healthcare and midwifery research. We do all this through the inspiration we get from meeting the women and families that walk through our doors each day.
Pregnancy and birth cause big changes in your body, particularly to your pelvic floor and core. Learn to regain strength and balance for long term health and wellness.
Midwifery is catching. In some parts of BC, Registered Midwives catch 30% of babies. At Pomegranate, we have more than 12 midwives working.
Having a Registered Massage Therapist at our clinic makes it easier for you to receive a full spectrum of care during your pregnancy and after.
We now have an Acupuncture clinic at Pomegranate on Mondays. You can receive expert care from Registered Acupuncturist Courtney Morris.
The childbearing year is a time of vast changes, both physically and emotionally. We have an onsite Registered Counsellor who provides private counselling.
At Pomegranate we have ongoing classes and workshops to enrich your time with us. We are fortunate to work with a stellar crew of instructors, educators and facilitators.
My second pregnancy was very stressful and needed a fair bit of medical intervention and support. My midwives at Pomegranate were incredibly supportive, patient and helpful. They encouraged and supported my desire to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) by providing with helpful information to help me make informed decisions about my pregnancy. When I needed a consultation with an OB, they worked well with him and were very professional. I had planned a home birth, but needed to transfer to the hospital and the midwife ensured that I was cared for and had the best experience possible, in spite of the change of plans. I was able to have a medication-free VBAC and it was amazing. They provided great post-partum support and breastfeeding assistance. I highly recommend them.
