KATIE MCNIVEN
I came to UBC Midwifery program three years ago
from a background of volunteer work in Nepal with
destitute women and babies, followed by work with
new mothers of twins here in Canada. Since
beginning the program, I have spent two months
in Guatemala working with and learning from a
midwife there. I also completed three clinical
placements with midwives in Nanaimo, Vancouver,
and Edmonton over the course of 18 months. Each midwife and birthing family has taught me something different, and I look forward to adding to the mix during my eight months with the midwives and families at Pomegranate.
After attending over 70 births to date with the UBC program, I am still in awe of the amazing process that birthing women and their families go through over the course of pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum. I look forward to meeting you and walking with you through that journey. Please feel free to approach me for questions or discussion about how I can best participate in your care
