JANICE FORMAN

A passion for women's health and natural
healing first brought me to midwifery. I am
enthralled by the
beauty of the idea that the
birth of a baby also results
in the birth of a
mother, of parents, of
families, of growing
communities. I believe strongly
in a woman's
right to be the primary decision maker
in
her care, to have choices and information
provided
to her in an environment in which
she and her
partner feel safe and respected.
My approach as a midwife is to develop a trust relationship with my clients in response to their individual needs and visions for their childbearing experience. With this solid foundation established, I can provide clinical care that is not only enriched by my experience and evidence-based practice, but also by the philosophy of the families I work with. I feel that providing clients with supportive, personalized care throughout childbearing can positively impact their experiences as mothers, as women.
I have been working as a midwife since 2000. I received my education and training through the midwifery program at Maternidad La Luz in Texas, and have practiced in community-based midwifery practices in the USA and Ontario. I have also worked as both a midwife and academic faculty member in a birth centre and midwifery school. My hope is that my experience, background in natural therapies and ability to speak Spanish will allow me to better serve my community.
