Vancouver Midwives | Community Midwifery in BC Lower Mainland

CAROLE MICELI

Hello! I am a third year UBC Midwifery
student. I was born and raised in
Vancouver, although I have spent about
two years living and working in Italy. I
feel excited and fortunate to be given the
opportunity of working and learning
at Pomegranate.

From the young age of 13 I knew I wanted
to be involved with working with pregnant
and childbearing women and their families.
As life would have it, instead of pursuing post secondary school after graduating from high school, I spent a number of years working, travelling and married in 1991. In 1997 I returned to school, while simultaneously growing our family to include 5 children, and completed my BSc from UBC in 2004.

Since my graduation from UBC I trained and worked as a doula supporting women and their families during their pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum, in addition to completing the breastfeeding councillor program from Douglas College. I am further interested in healthcare research, and I am actively involved with the research committee at UBC, investigating UBC student’s attitudes towards birth.

I feel so privileged to be able to study and work in a field that I love. I am honoured to be able to participate in the birth of new families and be able to be part of such an important time in the lives of women. I am looking forward to meeting with you, and I would like to thank you in advance for allowing me to participate in your prenatal, birth and parenting experiences.
