SMILE PROGRAM

St. Leonard's SMILE program has been serving young parents in Burnaby and New West for almost 20 years. The target client group is young Moms and Dads below age 24 who, for many reasons, might not choose mainstream services. Some of the challenges might be: poverty, involvement with MCFD, and previous drug and alcohol misuse. The program provides a non judgmental, welcoming venue. Participants can join prenatal classes, receive parenting, breastfeeding, and life skills support, and be referred to other community resources.

Pomegranate is proud that a number of its midwives are involved in providing prenatal, birth and postpartum care to clients from SMILE.
